Offline auto chess

Offline auto chess means an auto battler you can play without other people: against bots, in a campaign or in a roguelite run. The classic auto chess games are online by nature, since the opponents are the other seven players, so offline play comes from games that put the computer on the other side of the board

What exists today

Dota Underlords has an offline mode against bots, though the game has not been updated for years. Tales & Tactics, The Last Flame and Despot's Game are single-player roguelike auto battlers on Steam. Teamfight Tactics and Hearthstone Battlegrounds are online only

Erumaru

Erumaru is a single-player PvE auto chess roguelite for PC and never needs an opponent: the map, the mobs, the guardians and the bosses are the challenge. A run saves at any node, and the battle is deterministic, so the same seed always gives the same fight. The closed beta is free, the game is coming to Steam
