Open beta for Windows and 38 new monsters
Erumaru can now be downloaded for free. Version 0.1.0 is the first open beta, for Windows 10 and 11. The archive is on the download page: unpack it into any folder and run Erumaru.exe
It is a very early beta, and we would rather say so right away
- There will be bugs, and sometimes crashes
- The balance of heroes, mobs and items will change from version to version
- Saves and progress may reset when you update
- The text in the game is in Russian and English for now
- Windows may show a blue window about an unknown publisher, because the beta has no digital signature yet. Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”
Tell us how it goes. Bugs, ideas, a floor that feels unfair, a hero that feels weak: we want to hear all of it, on Discord and on Reddit. We read everything and fix things from your feedback
If you have not seen the game yet: Erumaru is a single-player PvE auto chess roguelite for PC in a post-apocalyptic world, with no PvP. You hire heroes, give them items and set up the squad, and then the fight plays out on its own. After it, you climb to the next floor. There are 25 heroes of six peoples, a fight on every floor, a guardian on every fifth and a boss on every tenth, and the first lost fight ends the climb
The game itself has changed a lot since 0.0.15. The biggest change: 38 new monsters have replaced the ordinary mobs of seven lands (the Great Dam, the Blind Tunnels, the Ice Bowl, Krongrad, the Sunken Port, the Settling Ponds and the Furnace). Golems, trolls, ogres, crabs, lizards and others, each with its own look, its own animations for standing, running, attacking, casting, taking a hit and dying, and its own sounds when it strikes. Here is what a few of them do
- The Moraine Ogre of the Ice Bowl lobs a boulder at the tightest group of your heroes and chills them
- The Sleeper Bonebreaker of the Blind Tunnels gets back up once after its first fall, with half its health
- The Crypt Bonehorn of the Blind Tunnels raises its fallen allies
- The Saltcrack Golem of the Sunken Port bursts when it dies, hurting the heroes next to it and breaking their armor
- The Icehole Boneclasp of the Ice Bowl hooks your farthest hero, roots it and drags it closer
- The Crown Spore Troll of Krongrad blinds those next to it with its breath, and where it falls it leaves a cloud of pollen that blinds again
Their abilities and special traits got effects of their own, made the same way as the looks of the heroes' abilities: the cast, the flight, the hit, marks on the ground and shields. The elites, guardians and bosses of these lands are next
All 31 statuses in battle are alive now. Burning, poison, freezing, stun, sleep and the rest used to be short three-frame stickers. Now each has its own animation: it starts when the status lands, loops while it lasts and plays out when it ends, on the head, on the body or at the feet depending on the status. You can tell at a glance who is burning, who is frozen and who is asleep
The monsters also stand and run better. They stand in the middle of their cells, and their size is matched to the heroes. Their run no longer drifts across the board and no longer freezes for a moment at the end of every loop
And a few fixes for the newest heroes
- The beam of Linkeon and the splint of Panteley now line up with the frames of their animations
- The portraits of Zavid and Polista are fixed, and so are the captions on the hire cards
- Floating damage numbers no longer pile on top of each other, and the counters on status icons are bigger
- The roots of Onufriy and the burrow of Zhdan are less bright, and there is less blood
New versions will come out on the same download page, and the devlog will tell what changed in each of them
